Course Overview
The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases:
Knowledge Development (Digital material at home) to understand basic principles of scuba diving
Confined Water Dives to learn basic scuba skills (Pool session)
Open Water Dives to use your skills and explore!
Academics
PADI’s digital training program is designed so that you can learn the academics at your own pace when it is convenient for you. All the theory including your knowledges reviews and exam can be completed at home at your convenience, then when your ready it’s time for the water.
Confined Water Training
Confined water sessions cover the basic equipment setup and in water skills you will complete on your open water dives (completed in one day). Your instructor will put into practice the techniques you learned in the academics program. Once you’re comfortable in confined water it’s time to move onto your Open Water Dives.
Open Water Training
Get ready to experience everything you’ve learned with the freedom of open water. As soon as your open water training dives are approved by your instructor you will be a certified diver. PADI Open Water Diver certification is recognized worldwide so your diving experiences will be limitless.All skills developed in the pool are put into practice in Open Water conditions. (completed over two days)
Equipment
In the PADI Open Water Diver course, you learn to use basic scuba gear including a mask, snorkel, fins, regulator, buoyancy control device and a tank. The equipment you wear varies, depending upon whether you’re diving in tropical, temperate or cold water. Check with Scuba Dive Adventures about the gear you’ll use during this course and get advice about everything you need from your PADI Instructor.
Duration
The whole course takes 2 days, once you have completed the home study section. The first day is spent in confined water practicing and mastering your dive skills. The day is finished with putting those new skills into practice by completing dive 1 of the course. The second day is spent conducing the remaining 3 Open Water Dives. This is usually completed locally, however Scuba Dive Adventures can complete your course anywhere in the world.
Referral
If you’re going on holiday and don’t have time to complete the full course you can do the PADI SCUBA Diver referral course. All you need to do is complete the theory and confined water sessions with us then complete the 4 Open Water Dives when you’re on holiday.
